10/20/23 Updates

We have another small batch of helpful LiFT updates for you. Here is a summary of changes released on Friday, Oct 20, 2023.

Improved Control of Class Grade Display: Text, Numeric or Both

To accommodate different models, LiFT provides both text and numeric options for portfolio grades and class grades. The numerics are used to make grade calculations and recommendations, and while some like to display the numeric, others prefer to keep it behind the scenes.  Your Facilitators can now control how your Class Grades appear.

For each class, facilitators select one of three options for how you want your Class Grades to display:
  1. Text Only (e.g Proficient)
  2. Numeric Score Only ( e.g. 87)
  3. Both (e.g. Proficient (87)).

Currently, if you're using Class Grading Policies, Class Grades default to both Text and Numeric. If you'd like to change your display for some or all classes, please let your LiFT Support team know and they will be happy to make that change for you.

We are providing a similar display control for Portfolio grades, coming soon.

Higher Limit for Numeric Score Rating on Evidence

Most Numeric Scoring is based on a 100-point scale. But some LIFT users have asked for a higher limit to use numeric scoring more creatively. The upper limit for Numeric Scoring is now set at 999.

For example, a teacher is using the numeric field to give fluency ratings on a different scale. If you start getting creative and begin using this feature for measuring other rates, please let us know how you're using it (just because we're curious to learn all the possibilities.)

New! Quick Add Evidence (shortcut around the Project Builder)

Sometimes you have Evidence of Learning that didn't come from a Project. You can now add that Evidence directly into a Learner's Skill Portfolio without having to build an entire project to capture it. Here's How:
  1. From your Class Portfolio tab, Open a Learner/Skill cell and click on the blue Create New Evidence button
  2. Give the Evidence a name, attach an artifact, and give the Evidence a rating, score and/or weight. Besides the name, these are all optional.
  3. Click on the blue Create button

That "Quick Add" Evidence will now appear on the list of Evidence in that cell's pop-up window. You can now also find these Quick Add Evidences on your Evidence Table and in your Project Library by checking the Quick Project checkbox in the upper right corner of your screen. They can then be treated like any other project.

The checkbox filters the Evidence to display/hide all Quick Add Evidence.

A De-Impersonate Function for Facilitators

As a LiFT Facilitator, you have the ability to Impersonate both Teachers and Learners. Now, instead of having to log out after Impersonating another LiFT user, you can click the new De-Impersonate button and you will be returned to your facilitator panel without having to log back in.

And a Couple More Updates...

  1. In the Teacher's Projects View, Evidence is now listed in the same order it was created in the Project.
  2. In both Teacher and Learner Evidence Tables, the Search Evidence and Search Project filters now search on strings of characters within the Evidence or Project name, not just at the beginning of the name.
  3. Small changes to the Pending Status so it reflects Evidence that is past the due date, but has been submitted by the Learner for Teacher review (Review Requested). This is a variant on Overdue, intended to signal to the learner that they have handed it in and not to worry while they wait for the teacher to review it.  When a teacher changes the status to Complete, the assignment will change from Pending to Complete. When a teacher changes the status to "Revision Requested", it will again be in Overdue status since the due date has past and the learner is required to take action.

We hope you like these updates as we continue to iterate to excellence!
