12/22/22 Updates

Our development team has been working hard to deliver another quick round of updates. Here is a summary of changes released this morning:

Google Permissions Refresh

When a learner starts a Google Template assignment, LiFT automatically gives the student and co-teachers permission to access the document as 'writer'.  Every now and again Google gets a little tied up in knots and doesn't set the permissions. When this happens and you try to open the document, you get a message that you need to request access to a document.

If this happens to you or your student, you can now go to your Evidence table, search the Evidence assignment, and give the Google permissions a refresh by clicking on the refresh icon in the far right column. In most cases, this will create the expected permissions for you and your student, and you will receive a success message. Occasionally, if LiFT can't determine the Google identity of the student, a popup will ask you to make sure the student has completed the Single-Sign On process. If you've tried to refresh Google Permissions on an assignment where a Google template was not used, you will get a message indicating there is no Google template attached to this evidence.

See What Your Projects Look Like to Students

In your Project Library, you can now see a preview of your projects that is virtually identical to what your students see. A new icon has been added to the right of each project in your Project Library.

When you click on that icon, the Project will display just like your students see it. The middle pane displays your Project Description. In the right detail panel, each Step is in blue and when you click on the View Details button next to it, the Step Description displays in the center pane. Your Step Evidence Resources are listed beneath the Evidence Name; Step Resources are listed beneath the Step Description.

Click the X in the upper right corner of the center pane to return to the Project Description from a Step Description, or again to return to your Project Library.

See How a Learner is Doing in Any Class with the Learner View

Click on the new Learners module at the bottom of your left navigation pane to reveal a list of each of your students and all of their classes. You can filter the list by learner name or class to find the student you're looking for and then scroll to the right to access the class you're interested in.

Within that Class, you can see their class status (On Track or Needs Attention) and class grade, if the class grade has been selected by a teacher to be shared with the Learner. You can also scroll through the tagged skills and ratings in that Class. To toggle to a different Class for that Learner, you don't need to return to the list as above, just use the Class dropdown in the center pane.

Click on a Project, and you see its details in a view only/non-clickable display. Well, mostly non-clickable, the View Artifact button is clickable, but you cannot add or delete Artifacts.

To view another student, click on the back arrow to the right of the LiFT logo in the upper left corner to return to the list of students and their classes.

When creating a new Resource - whether a Step Resource or a Step Evidence Resource - it is now possible to add either a URL or a file from your computer (e.g. a PDF).

Artifacts: Now You Can Open in a New Tab or Download File to Your Computer

In the Artifact Viewer, new functionality has been added to the blue View button under the Artifact preview.  Click on the View button to open Artifacts in a new tab or download the artifact to your computer, depending on the file type.

  1. All Files: All files can be viewed in the Artifact Viewer, including expanding it to full width by clicking on the 4-corner icon in the upper right corner of the window.
  2. Google Files: Clicking on the View button will open the file in a new tab. Use the Google menus to download any files to your computer.
  3. Links to Websites (URLs): Clicking on the View button will open the link in a new tab.
  4. Word Documents: Within the Artifact Viewer, there are controls in the bottom right corner of the document display - see image below. The Full Screen button to the far right will open the document in a new tab. The button to its left opens a menu that gives you the option to download the document or print it to PDF. Clicking on the blue View button will also download the document to your computer.
  5. Excel Files: Within the Artifact Viewer, there are controls in the bottom right corner of the document display. The View Full Size Workbook button to the far right will open the document in a new tab. Clicking on the blue View button in LiFT will download it to your computer.
  6. PDFs: Clicking on the View button will open the PDF in a new tab. From there you can download the file to your computer.
  7. Images (.jpg, .png): Clicking on the View button will open the image in a new tab.
  8. Audio and Video Files (.mp3, .mp4, .mov): Clicking on the View button will download the file to your computer.
Note: Certain browsers, or older browser versions may operate differently.
