The theme of today's product release is easier, faster paths to assign and save Projects in the new Project Builder.
Default Dates
For starters, it's helpful to understand when best to use Default Dates, and when their use is not suggested.
When to Use Default Dates... | When Not to Use Them... |
If you want the project to unroll over time and want to set all those dates now
If you want to pre-set Due dates and Lock dates to coordinate with Assign On dates
| If you simply want to assign everything now
If you want to do extensive personalization, you may prefer not to rely on default dates, and manage assignments more personally |
In Assign Learners, when you first select a class, or click on the new Assign To All button, a pop-up will open offering you two options.
If you toggle on the first option to apply all default dates, every learner in the class will be assigned to any evidence you have set default dates for in the evidence settings, on the dates you have set, and will also update due dates and lock dates as per your default settings.
The second option will assign learners to all of the other evidence in the project that does not have a default Assign On Date.
You can select both options in combination to assign all evidences to all learners in this class, whether or not you have set any Default Dates in the evidence settings.
But keep the small print in mind too:
- If dates already exist, they will remain unchanged: You can return to Assign to All at a later date when you've added more evidence and your earlier assignments remain unchanged.
- No Team Evidence will be assigned using this method: Teams involve much more personalization, so you still need to assign Team Groups and Teams individually or using bulk actions.
- Learners added to your class later are not included: If you have learners join your class after you've already assigned a project to all, you will need to go back to Assign Learners to add them, but you can use the Assign To All button again for them.
Improved Bulk Actions
A few small adjustments have been made to provide a big impact on the ease and speed of using bulk actions.
- You now have a Select All button in the upper left corner of the grid that will select all rows (learners) and columns (evidence, skill ratings). Once selected you can then deselect individual evidences (columns) or learners (rows).
- You now have a toggle in the upper right corner of your bulk action window. It defaults to evidence and provides the opportunity to select columns for evidence or skill ratings. If you move the toggle to Step, it will instead offer the opportunity to select columns for steps with no evidence. This works for Assign, Unassign and Manage Dates.
