You've figured out how to see the whole Project, and then learn about a particular Step within the Project. Now it's time to submit your Evidence (aka Artifact of Learning) when it's asked for.
Some Evidence is assigned by your teacher using Google Templates. With Google Templates, your teacher provides you with a Google Doc, Sheet or Slides (for simplicity, let's call them all docs) that they have created for the assignment. When you start the assignment, LiFT automatically creates a copy of that templated doc with your name on it and gives both you and your teacher sharing rights to edit the doc. That way you can easily pass a document back-and-forth seamlessly.
How to Introduce Your LiFT Account to Your Google Drive
Before you can use Google templates, you need to make a connection between your LiFT Account and your Google Drive. To do that, you need to initiate what is called a Single Sign on with Google. There are just a few quick steps:
- Click on your name (upper right corner of your LiFT screen)
- Select Single Sign on from the drop down menu
- On the next screen select your school Google drive (it helps to already be logged into Google)
- If you have a problem, click on "Sign Out of all Accounts" and start again
- On the next screen, when ed.link says they want access to your drive, click on Allow
That's all you need to do, and you only need to do it one time. Once your LiFT Account meets your Google drive, they become fast friends happy to help you keep your assignments moving back-and-forth easily. (The added bonus of making the LiFT/Google introduction is that thereafter you can login to LiFT by just clicking the Google G - way easier.)
How to Tell Whether It's a Google Template
Evidence that uses a teacher-created Google Template looks just a bit different. Google Templates have a Google drive logo and then the link to the template itself, along with a lighter-blue Start Assignment button. If Evidence does not use a Google Template, then there is just a darker-blue Add Artifact button.
How to Submit Google Template Evidence
If you first try to click the link, nothing happens. When you click on that Start Assignment button, magic starts to happen. The button changes color slightly while it's working and changes to Assigning briefly. Then the Google link is live and the button turns orange and says Send For Review and the status of your Evidence changes to In Progress. But before we send if for review, you need to access the template and do your work.
When you click on that Google link, a new tab will open up in your browser with the Google Template with your name on it. It's time for you to do your work and complete the assignment on that doc. When you're done with the assignment, return to the LiFT tab and click on the orange Send For Review button.
When you do that, you will get a message that says Evidence successfully submitted and the button you just clicked changes to red and says Under Review. Now you're just waiting for your teacher to review your Evidence and get back to you. It's a great idea to send your teacher a note, letting them know what you did and maybe even telling them how you were focusing on specific skills. Just click on the Comments link to enter a text-like message to your teacher.
Your teacher may mark your evidence Complete, or they may return it to you for revision. Either way, they might rate the Evidence against any Skills tagged to the Evidence. If they do want you to revise your Evidence, the button will turn orange and say Submit Revision.
You have two options to revise your Evidence:
- You can click on the Google link and it will again open in a new tab in your browser and you can edit it there. OR
- You can click on the blue View Artifact button and the doc will open up in the center panel. You can work on it there, or expand it to a larger size by clicking on the expand icon (in upper right corner) or the blue View button below.
- When you're done, return to LIFT tab and click on Submit Revision to send it back to your teacher.
And now the button turns red and says Under Review and you're back to waiting for your teacher to mark you Evidence complete, or return it to you for another round of revisions.
