This article does not apply to schools with a Clever/LiFT
integration. All Teacher & Student Accounts are created and updated
from within Clever.
Once you have done the preliminary onboarding of your Teachers and
Students, you may still need to make periodic updates to their Accounts.
Within the Teachers Module, clicking on the Actions button to the far right of a each Teacher’s Account opens a list of actions you can perform:
Each of these Actions are outlined below.
Selecting Teacher Details from the Actions drop-down menu displays the details for the selected Teacher. (Hint: You can also get to this screen by clicking on the Teacher’s name.)
Selecting Send Invitation from the Actions drop-down menu sends an email to the selected Teacher to activate their Account. This option only appears on the Actions drop-down menu for Teachers who have not yet activated their Account. If you have already sent this Teacher an invitation to activate their Account, but it remains inactivated, then the menu option will be Resend Invitation.
Selecting Remove Account from the Actions
drop-down menu is used to permanently remove a Teacher’s Account from
LiFT. If the Teacher’s Account has not yet been activated, or they
activated the Account but were never active in LiFT, then selecting
Remove Account would be appropriate. If you select Remove Account, a
pop-up window will ask you to confirm you are sure you want to remove
the Account permanently. You do not want to Remove the account of a Teacher who has interacted with students within LiFT.
As an alternative to removing an Account, you should archive an Account when a teacher leaves your school or is no longer active in LiFT. Selecting Archive Teacher from the Actions drop-down menu will remove a Teacher from your list of Active Teachers in the Teachers Module in LiFT - the Account and any data associated with that Account will remain in the LiFT system, but out of sight.
Whoops! You didn’t mean to archive that Teacher? No worries. By clicking on the Don’t show inactive filter at the top of the screen, you will have the option to select Show inactive instead and LiFT will display all the inactive (aka archived) Teachers as well. Find the Teacher you mistakenly archived and you will see that their Status reads Archived. Click on their Actions button and instead of Archive Teacher, you will have the option to select Unarchive Teacher.
You have the ability to reset a Teacher’s password by selecting Reset Password from the Actions button. You will be asked to confirm this action. If you say yes, a window will pop-up with a new password for that Teacher. Be certain to copy down the password and share it with the Teacher.
Pro Tip: This is also a way for you to activate a Teacher’s New (not yet
activated) Account. They will no longer be able to use the link in a
LiFT activation email; you will have to provide them with the new
password or they will need to reset the password again themselves by
clicking Forgot password? at the login screen.
Making changes to Student Accounts is very similar to making changes to Teacher Accounts. From to the Students Module, clicking on the Actions button opens a similar list of actions you can perform.
Selecting Student Details from the Actions drop-down menu displays the details for the selected Student. (Hint: You can also get to this screen by clicking on the Student’s name.)
Selecting Send Invitation from the Actions drop-down menu sends an email to the selected Student to activate their Account. This option only appears on the Actions
drop-down menu for Students who have not yet activated their Account.
If you have already sent this Student an invitation to activate their
Account, but it remains inactivated, then the menu option will be Resend Invitation.
Selecting Student View from the Actions
drop-down menu takes you into the Student’s LiFT Account, able to
explore the Account from the Student’s perspective, with view-only
access.
Selecting Access Tokens from the Actions drop-down menu is where you issue Access Tokens for that Student’s Parent/Guardian – more about this can be found in Providing Parent Access.
Selecting Remove Account from the Actions
drop-down menu is used to permanently remove a Student’s Account from
LiFT. If the Student’s Account has not yet been activated, or they
activated the Account but were never active in LiFT, then selecting
Remove Account would be appropriate. However, once a Student has
submitted any Evidence, removing a Student Account will become very
problematic. If you select Remove Account, a pop-up window will ask you
to confirm you are sure you want to remove the Account permanently.
You have the ability to reset a Student’s password by selecting Reset Password from the Actions
button. You will be asked to confirm this action. If you say yes, a
window will pop-up with a new password for that Student. Be certain to
copy down the password and share it with the Student.
Pro Tip: This is also a way for you to activate a Student’s New (not yet
activated) Account. They will no longer be able to use the link in a
LiFT activation email; you will have to provide them with the new
password or they will need to reset the password again themselves by
clicking Forgot password? at the login screen.
