How to Grade Evidence - The Easiest Way
There are multiple ways to do many things in LiFT, but the easiest place to evaluate Evidence is in the Class > Projects module.
Go to Your Class > Projects Module
Select your Class, and then select the Projects tab.
Decide What You Want to See
There are two views to look at the information differently:
- If you want to look at a particular Evidence and see how all your Learners are doing, use the Projects - Evidences - Learner view. This is the default view.
- If you want to look at a particular Learner and see how they are doing across all assigned evidence, use the Project - Learner - Evidences view.
To filter by status, you can click on one of the numbers under the icons in the center panel. This makes it easier to see all Evidence that has been completed, or assigned but not yet started, etc.
You can also search by Project name or Learner name. And by default, only teacher-created Projects will appear; to find a learner-created Project, change the filter to Created by Learners, instead of Created by Teachers.
Rate the Evidence
Now that you're looking at the Evidence you want to grade, the process is simple:
- Review the Artifact - click on Artifact, just under the Evidence name. You can view it in the center panel, or make it larger by clicking the Expand icon in the upper right corner, next to the X.
- Completed or Not - determine whether you think the Evidence is complete as is. If so, update the Status to Complete. If not, update the Status to Revision Requested to return it to the Learner for revision. It's helpful to send a comment to the Learner by clicking on Comments; comments can be either general or be tagged to specific Skills by selecting a Skill from the drop down menu above the Write a comments box.
- Evaluate Against Skills - all tagged Skills are listed with the Evidence. You can click on a Skill and the center panel will reveal definitions for each rubric if provided by your school. You can evaluate Evidence whether you have marked Evidence as completed or not. If you enabled Rubric Rating when you created the Evidence, you can put a check mark in the box for the appropriate rubric for each Skill; hovering over the box shows you the rubric's label. If you enabled Numeric Scoring when you created the Evidence, enter a numeric score on a 100-point scale. To erase a rating, just click it again.
- Send Evidence to Portfolio - Assuming you want to include this Evidence in the tagged Skill Portfolios, click the blue plus icon and it will convert to a green check icon indicating the Evidence is in that specific Skill Portfolio. To remove it from a portfolio, click on the green check icon and it will revert to the blue plus icon.
- Approve Skill - If you wish to Approve a Skill, place a check in the Approve box. Schools typically use this feature to say that this Skill has definitely been met.
