Account Activation

Account Activation

This article does not apply to schools with a Clever/LiFT integration. Everyone at a Clever school accesses LiFT directly through Clever.

Before anyone can access LiFT, you must first create an Account for them. Creating Accounts is addressed in the article, Creating Teacher & Student Accounts (add link). Once you have created an account, each user – Teacher or Learner – must activate their own account.

Activating Accounts

There are two ways in LiFT to initiate the Account activation process:

  • Send an invitation, or
  • Share a link

Method 1: Send an Invitation

To send an individual user an invitation, you go to the appropriate module on your Facilitator Dashboard – Teachers or Students – find the User you wish to invite, click on the Actions button and then select Send Invitation from the drop down menu. LiFT will send an email to that User inviting them to activate their account by clicking on a link in the email and following the prompts to create their password.

You can also share the following link with one or many user:

You may want to use this method in the following use cases:
  • For teachers, you may wish to send a personal/group email sharing with them background about LiFT, including the activation link so that they can activate their accounts, and sharing the training materials with instructions or deadlines for completing the training.
  • For students, you may ask each of your teachers to share the link (e.g. write it on a whiteboard or blackboard) with their class the first time that class uses LiFT and have the class activate their LIFT accounts in that class.
  • For students, you may wish to send an email to all students with the activation link and some training materials for them to activate their LiFT accounts independently.

You can always find the activation link by navigating to the Settings module on your Facilitator dashboard.

When a user goes to that link, they will be asked to enter their email and then will be prompted to create a password.

What's Important to Understand

You must first create all Accounts before anyone will be able to
access and/or activate their LiFT account.

LiFT Accounts are activated by the user, but you get the process
started as your school/district’s LiFT Facilitator.

One way to start the activation process is to send an invitation to an individual user directly through LiFT. This is best done when you are inviting a small group of users to activate their accounts since you do this one user at a time. It also works best when the users is expecting the link and/or it is accompanied (just before or just after) by an email or other instruction from you.

The second way to start the activation process is to direct one or many users to the link mylift.io/get-started by including the link in an email or other communication, or by posting it in a classroom. This is often the best way to invite larger groups of users to activate their accounts, and you can
tailor the message that accompanies the link to your needs.
